This research poster explores the intersection of racial trauma, coaching, and decolonised wellbeing practices. Traditional coaching methodologies often fail to address the unique challenges faced by Global Majority communities, particularly in navigating systemic barriers, microaggressions, and intergenerational trauma.
This work highlights the urgent need for holistic, culturally responsive coaching that centres lived experience and resistance. Drawing from my experience as an NHS Global Majority Coach (2020–2023), my book Back Yourself, and my PhD research on Caribbean dance as resistance, this presentation offers key insights into decolonised coaching.
Through practice-based research, I examine how coaching can support those impacted by racial trauma while challenging dominant frameworks that exclude Global Majority perspectives. Key themes include microaggressions and othering, systemic barriers to wellbeing, and the role of holistic, embodied coaching approaches.
The poster incorporates visual elements—charts, icons, and a simple framework—to illustrate practical coaching strategies that prioritise cultural identity, self-advocacy, and healing.
The conclusion reinforces the importance of embedding these methodologies in coaching practice, offering actionable takeaways for practitioners seeking to create more inclusive, equitable spaces. By integrating research, lived experience, and practical strategies, this presentation advocates for a shift towards coaching that empowers, heals, and affirms the wellbeing of Global Majority communities.
